Auto-ID in a Rotary Dairy
AGFECS Auto-ID – Rotary Dairy
AGFECS first installed the Auto-ID in a herringbone dairy in 1994, using Allflex tags and Texas Instruments scanning equipment, which is now approved for the National Livestock Identification Scheme. In conjunction with the AGFECS DFMS-500 computer this has proved to be a very efficient system.
The use of a microphone reader makes certain that the cow entering each particular bail was read onto the platform, ensuring that it was the correct cow in each position.
Results from farmers all over Australia have proved this system to give very cost effective, faster and easier feeding.
Investment in AGFECS equipment has been designed to be staged to suit your budget, from the dispenser – to the computer, – on to the Auto-ID.
Having a storage capacity means that feeding at milking time can be completed even in the event of power failure or breakdown of the filling system.
A large capacity storage bin was used in this dairy. However the bin can be designed to suit your particular dairy or needs. The DFMS-500 can be connected to control an auger type feed dispenser if this is already installed.
The black stick holds the microphone reader, which detects the cow when she is on the platform.
The reader is located so that the cow is unable to back out after she has been read. If the reading sensor is not positioned correctly, it is possible for a cow to be read without entering her stall, so positioning the cows out of sequence to the order of feeding.
With the reader being positioned on the platform, it is impossible for the cow to get out of sequence.
The rotation of the platform tells the computer via a locating switch when the discharge chute is in position to feed the cow.
The farmer can readily access information from the large display and input information from the convenient keyboard to the computer system. For example, enter or cancel heat warnings, enter or cancel health warnings, and changing feed levels are just a few things that can be done.
The DFMS-500 gives various visual and audio warnings. These include health and heat indications.
The Computer package comes complete with feed dispenser, plus all necessary cabling, hardware and software.
The DFMS-500 computer does not require an office to house the electronic equipment.
