Solar Rebate Scheme

  We are now able to offer you Solar Systems under the West Australian Solar Rebate Scheme. Please read what our Electrician is telling us:  

Solar Deal up to June 30th & September 30th.

The rebate formula is being changed come 30/6/2011 and what that means is the 5 x multiplier in the formula is being reduced to 4. I have heard rumours that the multiplier is being reduced to 3.

(1.382 x 1.5 x 5 x 15)  (1.382 x 1.5 x 4 x 15)  (1.382 x 1.5 x 3 x 15)       (zone x kw x multiplier x 15 years)

What this means is for the first 1.5 kw of a new system the number of renewable certificates will be reduced ie. for a 5 x multiplier they generate 155 rec`s

For a 4 x multiplier they generate 124 rec`s and for a 3 x multiplier they generate 93 rec`s.

If you multiply the rec`s by the current price of the rec` which is $23 we would get

  • 155 x $23 =$3565     
  • 124 x $23 = $2852    
  • 93 x $23 =$2139

This multiplier only applies to the first 1.5 kw.  Any other panels put on would generate the rec`s like this  1.382 x kw x 15 as you can see when the multiplier is reduced the amount of money as a rebate drops.

To get the 5 x multiplier the systems you have to be in by 30/6/2011. To qualify for the state Gov. $0.40 buy back they have to be in by 30 September 2011.  After that the feed in tariff will drop to $0.20 from the Gov. and a generous $0.07 from Synergy.

The import – export meter is installed by Western Power at a cost of around $150.  This is just a matter of filling in some forms.

It would be a bit dodgy if the customer installs their own panels as they have to be installed by a licensed electrician.

Once the panels are all connected up in series, you will get 320 volts at the output of the panels. This could be very dangerous for the un-initiated.

The Office of Energy would be quite angry if they found out that we were allowing customers to install these Systems themselves.

When doing the paper work to qualify for the rec`s the owner and myself (Qualified Solar Accredited Electrician) have to sign statutory declarations that I was physically on site to design install and commission the solar system.

I can handle the paper work and could come to Perth to install these units.

ALL THE INVERTERS MUST BE APPROVED BY WESTERN POWER AND APPROVAL MUST BE OBTAINED BEFORE THE SYSTEMS CAN BE INSTALLED.

The panels must be of a type approved by the clean energy council. To install only, fit the panels, supply the wire, fuses, switch assembly etc…   Need to allow at very least $2000 and that would be on a system that was close to the switch board.
